Marvin, a journalism major going into his final semester at Stony Brook, made it his mission to do Journalism Without Walls before graduating. For his main project on efforts to reduce Bangalore’s garbage problem through recycling, Marvin spent his time knee-deep in waste, dirt and plenty of funky smells. He returned from India intending to burn all the clothes he wore, but he also brought home a new appreciation for the hectic days and culture clashes that only foreign reporting can bring. He just hopes that the phrase “Marvin, garbage!” won’t be a regular thing his colleagues shout at him in the future.
