Heritage sites in Bangalore: a photo gallery

Long a quiet part of the Kingdom of Mysore, Bangalore began to develop as a city when the British ruled India. In the 1850s, the occupiers established a military garrison there, and slowly, development united disparate villages into a city. Urbanization exploded with the growth of Bangalore as India’s hub for information technology, and today, the high price of land for redevelopment threatens the remaining vestiges of Bangalore’s past. Photos by Kelly Zegers
