The Indian saree has been a part of the country’s culture for decades. The traditional outfit dates back to the Vedas, which is the country’s oldest surviving piece of literature. Today, the saree is still very much in style. Some women will wear one every day, while others just bring them out for special occasions, like weddings. This year there began a trend on social media called the 100 saree pact. Women who join the pact pledge to wear sarees 100 times throughout the year. Each day there are new posts going up online of women wearing sarees using the hash tag #100sareepact and writing a little story about their saree. Though the fashions in the country are changing, the saree will still have a place in Indian culture and does not appear to be going away anytime soon.
